Passes away on 29 May, near 85

Suffers an incapacitating brain stroke on the night of 25 November 1985. He is provided treatment in India and at John Hopkins in Baltimore, USA by the Government of India - with little improvement. Another stroke in Octber 1986 leaves him in a coma, from which he is not able to recover.
